Shop search by hospice group to boost funds

Birmingham-based Johnson Fellows is acting on behalf of The Myton Hospices to locate retail units in areas including Stratford-upon-Avon, Coleshill and suburbs of Coventry where it’s not already represented.

The Myton Hospices is aiming to open several new shops, expanding its charity retail operations to raise more funds. It requires retail units of between 800 and 2,000 sq ft, and showrooms of between 2,000 and 7,000 sq ft.

Iain Mills, senior surveyor in Johnson Fellows’ retail agency, said: “This hospice group does very important work for many families and people who are going through a devastating time.

“The money it generates from these shops plays a huge part in it being able to carry on providing such valuable care to so many, so it is important that we locate suitable units as soon as we can.”

The Myton Hospices has three sites in Coventry, Rugby and Warwick. It needs to raise £8.8 million a year to provide its range of support services. Last year it supported more than 1,400 people and their families. The hospices are leaders in compassionate end of life care. Work centres on patient wellbeing and involving them in decisions about their care, giving patients more quality time with their loved ones.

David Dyson, head of retail and trading for The Myton Hospices, said: “This is an exciting time for The Myton Hospices and particularly our retail department as we look to double the size of our current shop portfolio in the next three years. With the support of the team at Johnson Fellows we are looking for new sites throughout Coventry and Warwickshire that complement our existing estate.”
