Price is right for Johnson Fellows

Midlands-based chartered surveyors Johnson Fellows has announced that Mike Price has joined the ambitious company as a partner.

Mike, who has worked in Birmingham’s commercial property sector for more than 20 years, will lead a newly established industrial and logistics division.

The 42-year-old has acted on some of the region’s most notable schemes and transactions, offering a wealth of experience to develop this new service into a regionally important team. In particular, Mike has a track record of representing occupiers making sure that they get the best possible deals for their business.

“Johnson Fellows has a very strong retail client base which gives us an opportunity to talk to them about their big shed and small shed requirements, and their distribution needs. We are adding another string to the Johnson Fellows bow and adding value to the service we already offer existing clients,” said Mike.

“Our key target is very much focused on the Midlands market, but we will be led by our clients’ needs which may take us into areas across the UK. There is a big focus from surveying practices to act on behalf of landlords, but I’ll be acting for the guys on the other side of the fence. After all, these are the people filling the vacant spaces and growing the economy, so we need to make sure they are getting the right market deals.

“I believe that there is considerable scope to assist occupiers with their property needs and provide a service not offered by other firms. In particular, many companies question the independence of the advice they receive and I feel Johnson Fellows’ reputation for occupier focused unbiased advice will prove to be a hit in the industrial marketplace.”

Mike, 42, who grew up in Walsall and went to Wolverhampton Grammar School, now lives in Redditch. He has a degree in Estates Management and, after graduating, went straight into industrial agency at Lambert Smith Hampton’s Birmingham office. Six years later he joined King Sturge and went on to further his career at GVA Grimley and Knight Frank where, as a partner, he was head of industrial and logistics for the Midlands.

He added: “I was attracted to Johnson Fellows because its is a niche company where your contribution can make a real difference. I will be unfettered by office politics and able to concentrate on providing my clients with the service they both need and demand. This is an excellent opportunity to grow a department and create job opportunities for talented property professionals.”

Chris Gaskell, agency partner at Johnson Fellows, said: “Although we are known for commercial retail property, many of our clients have warehouses and storage units which is an area we are yet to tap into. Mike’s appointment creates a new drive for Johnson Fellows and means we can offer an additional important service for our existing clients.”
